Chelsea 2011

Congratulations to the team from the North West Area
who won a GOLD MEDAL with their striking and atmospheric exhibit
entitled Wood Yew Waste

The Exhibit was staged under the leadership of Ann Coulton, a very talented and successful flower arranger and competitor.  Ann says of her exhibit "The style of the design is contemporary, based on recycled materials.  The title is Wood Yew Waste and the inspiration sprang from the detrius that lies on the banks of the River Ribble, especially after the Spring tides, when there is the most beautiful driftwood to be found.  Sculpted and bleached by the tides, the shapes and textures of this wood inspired our central design.  We have created a fantasy tree sculpture incorporating plant material in subtle watery colours, evoking its source.  The design will be done in vintage colours, purples, lilacs, pinks, greys, greens, creams and browns, including hydrangeas, roses in antique shades, foxgloves, delphiniums and mosses.  The team will even be wearing waistcoats made of recycled plastic!"
