Throughout the Summer beginning at the end of May the Area is organising events to celebrate 40 years of the Area of Northumberland & Durham. 

AREA EVENTS 2008 
24-26 May

Hexham Abbey, North Transcept, 'The World around us'  Flower Festival by Hexham and District Flower Club.  Abbey opening times.

1st week of June Brunton Park will have floral displays at Gosforth ASDA and Sainsbury's.  Woodlands Park to have floral displays at The Victorian Tea Rooms, Gosforth Park and Sandra's Village Tea Rooms.
3, 5 & 8 June Ponteland have 3 mini-demonstrations at 11 am.  Lunch is £5.00 and is to be held at Dobbies Garden Centre.
7 June St Nicholas Flower Festival Durham.
8 June Rowlands Gill flower trail, 8 gardens between Swalwell and Castleside 11 am - 6 pm £2.00.
8 June Callerton Floral Displays and leaflets at 'Party in the Park' Ponteland.
19 June                         Cramlington Floral Art Club are holding a strawberry delights with floral displays and entertainment evening at Cramlington Community Centre 7.30 pm £3.00.
20 - 22 June Wallsend, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth clubs are holding a Flower Festival at Georges Church, Cullercoates.
29 June Brampton Flower Club have strawberry teas in an open garden or in the Methodist Hall, also floral displays around the village.
1st week of July Sunderland Floral Art Club flower exhibition in the central foyer of Sunderland City Library.
5-6 July Gateshead and Lintzford Garden Centre, Floral Weekend.
12-18 July 'Flower Trail' to celebrate the Area's 40th Anniversary.  Cutting Edge and Gateshead Flower Club are exhibiting in the Sage Theatre and the Baltic Art Gallery.  There will also be Flower Festivals, Workshops, floral trips around gardens, craft and flower events taking place during this time.
17 July Stocksfield South of Tyne are organising a Garden Trail and Flower Arts & Crafts day, £5.00 for the day by ticket only.
26-27 July Floral displays at Morrison's in Morton Park, Darlington. Demonstrations and hands on.
27 July Loftus Flower Club at Moors Centre Danby, floral displays.
31 July North of Tyne Flower Club MURC Hall workshop for public to join in 6- 9 pm.
16-17 August Saturday Warkworth Castle Flower Show and Sunday Heighley Gate Garden Centre mini-demonstrations by 6 clubs throughout both days.
August (dates tbc) Hartlepool & District and Afternoon clubs display at Horticultural Show, Borough Hall Hartlepool.
30-31 August Peterlee Show, display by Peterlee & District Flower Club, 20 members entering a new competition at the show.
13-14 Sept Roker, Cleadon, Washington, South Sheilds and Monkton are to have a display at an event in Bede's World in support of of the 'Wearmouth Jarrow' bid to secure World Heritage status at the twin sites (namely the ruins of St Bede's Monastery and St Peter's Church).
