The North Midlands Area of NAFAS was formed on 28 June 1962 and covers Leicestershire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, East Staffordshire and South Yorkshire. There are 3,500 members in the 62 clubs which includes one Contemporary Floral Design Group: Future Concepts and a Junior Club.
Our Founder President, the late Mrs Dorothy Cooke MBE was a National Life Vice President and NAFAS Founder Associate of Honour.
We are privileged to have 3 NAFAS Associates of Honour – Mrs Jean Hill, MBE, Mrs Anne Bull, Mrs Carolyn Wise and NAFAS Past Chairman Associate of Honour, Mrs Jenny Mellors DL.
The Area Team plan and organise Area meetings, events, training, tests and education with the help of our Area Representatives.
The Area is fortunate to have a good representation of Judges, Demonstrators, Speakers and Teachers which includes 3 National Demonstrators and 7 National Teachers. Further details are available on the JDS&T webpage
The Teachers’ Association was founded in 1984 and has a programme of educational workshops for members, who then share that educational knowledge at Area and Club workshops.The TA also host an annual Open Day with an International Demonstrator. Members of the North Midlands Area are always keen to offer support decorating castles, stately homes, churches, cathedrals, etc and have won the Area many prestigious awards including RHS London Orchid Show Gold, RHS Chelsea Silver and RHS Malvern Gold, numerous NAFAS National Show awards, Harrogate Show Gold and not forgetting the many local County shows held throughout our Area.
