The North West Area covers the counties of Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, part of Greater Manchester and the Isle of Man.
The inaugural meeting of clubs north of the Mersey was held in 1961. The original ‘North West’, formed in 1957, had nine clubs scattered from the Scottish border to North Wales and Shropshire. Some NAFAS Firsts from the North West were: a Fellowship; an Affiliated Junior Flower Club (Longton); the NAFAS stand (Gold) at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1977; and a Designer Club – ‘Club in the Park’.
We have celebrated our Anniversaries with great joy, and we now journey towards Gold; held inspiring Member’s Days, organised glorious Flower Festivals and Competitions, received valuable instruction from the Teacher’s Association, shared expertise in wonderful Workshops, and enjoyed Floral Musical Extravaganzas. There is a wealth of Area and National Demonstrators, Judges and Speakers in our midst, and we have known our worth in the many members capable of holding National Appointments.
Since our inception, the talent which has developed in the North West Area, is abundant and overflowing – there must be something in the water! We take pride in our achievements as NAFAS turns Gold.
The North West Area has one Junior Flower Club:
