The South Midlands Area was affiliated to NAFAS in 1962 and celebrated it’s 45th Anniversary in 2007. After the division of the Midlands Area into North and South Areas, the South Midlands Area was to include what is now the urban West Midlands, and the mostly rural counties of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. We currently have 52 clubs with 3,000 members and are bordered by 6 other Areas of NAFAS.
Amongst our achievements we have staged Flower Festivals in the Cathedrals of Birmingham, Coventry and Lichfield as well as in some of the lovely National Trust properties and stately homes in our Area. Our teams have won a Silver Gilt at Chelsea in 1978 for ‘The Tree of Life’, and a Gold Medal at Chelsea in 2001 for ‘The Fountain of Nature’. Many of our members have achieved individual success over the past years and we look forward to a future of more Fun and Friendship through Flowers.
