A visit to the East of England

Nestled in the small village of Rocklands All Saints the pro-active Great Ellingham & District Flower Club meet on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 1.30pm.  Vanessa Keys from NAFAS Head Office was delighted to join the members last month who celebrated their efforts in organising an afternoon tea which made a profit of over £800.

Over 60 members were in attendance the day she visited the club to enjoy an afternoon demonstration titled ‘Summer Sensation’ by Andrew
Key, Area Chairman of North Midlands and Area Demonstrator.  Andrew is also Chairman of the team organising the National Show 2027 being held at the Lincolnshire Showground.  With his microphone squeaking at the most inopportune moments, his witty humour and demonstrating skills the members had a most enjoyable afternoon, particularly those who won the many raffle prizes on offer.

It was a delight for Vanessa to meet Rachael Borenkover, Club Chairman and Jane Dalton the Club Secretary and all members that made her feel so welcome.

Below are few images from the afternoon:-

The following day, after receiving an invitation from Gloria Goodley, East of England Area Chairman Vanessa headed off to the Royal Norfolk Show.  It was the hottest day of the year, but nevertheless the exhibits in the floral art marquee promoted members talents wonderfully.  After many years of emailing, it was a pleasure for Vanessa to meet Sue Cooper, Area Secretary and Jacquie Aldous, Chairman of the Norwich Group who co-ordinated the competition.

Since the visit, Gloria Goodley has received the Royal Norfolk Association Certificate of Fellowship 2026 for her outstanding contribution over the years to the Royal Norfolk Show – congratulations Gloria, very well deserved.
